Israel is greatly advancing on its SCP roadmap

As part of the SWITCH-Med Programme scoping review and the development of a SCP roadmap for Israel, two workshops were held in that country during 17-19th June 2014 aiming at promoting the concepts of Circular Economy and Life Cycle Management among Israeli policy makers, industry, academia and NGOs.

As part of the SWITCH-Med Programme scoping review and the development of a SCP roadmap for Israel, two workshops were held in that country during 17-19th June 2014 aiming at promoting the concepts of Circular Economy and Life Cycle Management among Israeli policy makers, industry, academia and NGOs. Over 100 delegates attended the two events, including representatives from 8 different governmental ministries. Moreover, roundtables and side meetings were also organised as part of the two workshops.

Sustainable Consumption and Production:  Policy Tools for Circular Economy" in IsraelTwo day workshop for policy makers on ¨Sustainable Consumption and Production:  Policy Tools for Circular Economy" which was held in Jerusalem on 17-18th June was attended by 50 participants from 8 different ministries. It was opened by Mr. Galit Cohen, Deputy Director General, for Policy and Planning at the Ministries of Environmental Protection (MoEP). During the two days event, experts mainly from Israel, US, Spain and Germany gave presentations on topics that included: resource efficient consumption and production along global value chains, LCA and eco-innovation, introduction to circular economy and policy making and new roads to sustainable consumption: enabling sustainable lifestyles. On the 19th June, a one day event ¨Practitioners Workshop: Mainstreaming Life Cycle Thinking¨   which was held in Tel Aviv, it was intended for LCA practitioners, industry representatives, researchers and consultants to address the issue how to mainstream Life Cycle Thinking in Isreal. The very successful event also included practitioners forum, roundtable discussion, expert panel on real life case study and a poster exhibition. It was organised by the SWITH-Med implementing partners jointly with the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MoEP), the Israeli Manufacturers Association and the Institute for Business, Environment and Society (Tel Aviv University).
